Art Austria in Vienna

The MuseumsQuartier of Vienna is the setting for Art Austria, taking place between May 14th and 18th.
This arts fair will cast a look at art produced during the period 1920-1980, an age in which Austrian artists flourished under the banners of fantastic realism and Viennese actionism.
However, organisers are keen to stress that the work on display at Art Austria is not bound by such categorisations. They feel that the 60-year period in question has been ignored, with many artists forgotten about while others have excelled. It is hoped that this fair can provide a permanent platform for art from this era.
A long list of Austrian galleries will be contributing to the event in order to build up a picture of how art from the country has had an international and long-lasting influence. The Kovacek and Zetter, Kratochwill, Krinzinger, and the Lang Wien are among the participating institutions.
A visit to Art Austria allows the opportunity to explore one of the ten largest cultural complexes in the world. Within the MuseumsQuartier are such sights as the Leopold Museum, the Museum of Modern Art Ludwig Foundation Vienna and the Kunsthalle exhibition space.
