The Budapest Wine Village

Whether you are partial to a glass of red, white or rose, wine lovers visiting the Hungarian capital Budapest will not want to miss the city's fifth annual Wine Village which takes place begins on August 19th and finishes on August 24th.

The event features several hundred wines for the delectation of visitors, presented by more than 100 wineries.

A variety of gastronomic delicacies will also be available, including traditional Hungarian dishes which canbe washed down with the native brandy known as palinka. Culinary treats for sale will include cheeses and meats, truffle oil, jams, gezemice and langalló.

There will be plenty of live music and entertainment from blues and jazz to funk and rock 'n' roll. Miklós Kónya and the Wine Village Gypsy Band will welcome guests on the opening day of the event, while the Budapest Gypsy Symphony will conclude it.

Once travellers have had their fill at the Wine Village, other attractions in the beautiful city of Budapest include St Stephen's Basilica, the Fisherman's Bastion with its excellent views across the city and the neo-Gothic parliament building which contain the Hungarian crown jewels.
