Set in the beautiful Grand Market at the heart of the city, the Brussels Christmas market offers visitors an opportunity to pick up some unusual Christmas gifts.
Held annually the market is full of traditional arts and crafts brought to the event by over 150 traders from around Europe, meaning that there is always something different to discover.
Whether it is a unique, hand-crafted gift that you are looking for, or something to decorate the Christmas tree, the Brussels Christmas market has something for everyone. Belgian chocolates are also high on the list of local delicacies which are available at the market, but there is also a good selection of jewellery for shoppers to check out.
And for those who may not want to shop until they drop, Brussels also has an artificial ice rink, which is set up for the duration of the Christmas market's stay and is located at the fish market.
As this Christmas market – unlike many in Europe – runs until New Year's Day, it can also provide a perfect reason for a short break to beat those post-Christmas blues.
