Visit cultural Vienna
5th August 2008
Art enthusiasts who may have taken the opportunity to visit the current Gustav Klimt exhibition being held at the Tate Liverpool might want to go one step further and take an artistic voyage around Vienna where they will have the chance to view the work of Klimt in its home setting at the Belvedere Palace in Vienna.
Now they will have the chance to view the work of the artist in its home setting at the Belvedere Palace in Vienna.
Visitors to the city can visit the Vienna Secession gallery where Klimt and his fellow artists began the Art Nouveau movement in Vienna. The venue's basement also contains his world-renowned Beethoven frieze.
From October 1st 2008 until January 18th 2009, an exhibition entitled Gustav Klimt and the Kunstschau 1908 takes place at the Belvedere Palace. In addition to work by other artists involved in the movement, visitors will be able to see Klimt's The Kiss up close.
More examples of the artist's genius can be viewed by those who decide to have a night out at the National Theatre, where his work is on display in the stairwells of the building.
Vienna also has its own museum quarter which includes the Museum of Modern Art, the Liechtenstein Palace, the Vienna Clock Museum and the Leopold Museum which houses artworks relating to the Secession, Viennese Modernism and Austrian Expressionism.
