Floral San Remo: where old meets new

San Remo, the main town along Italy's Riviera dei Fiori (Riviera of Flowers) is a beautiful destination that almost seamlessly merges old and new in its architecture and lifestyle.
In La Pigna, the old town, your imagination can run free to medieval times, as the little squares and steep, covered alleys transport the visitor to a faraway land. San Remo has a rich history and this is nowhere more evident than in the old town, which dates back to the year 1,000.
Move along outside the older area of San Remo and you will find yourself in a busy seaside resort that attracts people from all over the world throughout the year. Apart from the beautiful coastline, San Remo is also home to a popupal San Remo casino, which dates back several centuries.
Nestled between Capo Nero and Capo Verde, San Remo is also known as the Town of Flowers. The town's climate is credited for contributing to the luscious growth ofvarious floral species, with nature's blooms on display in gardens, flowerbeds and parks across the town.
Lovers of cultural events will also get their fix in San Remo, with various festivals celebrating the best of the region each year. The Italian Song Festival has been drawing crowds every year since 1951, with the country's talent converging to outperform each other to the delight of their audience.
