Valentino exhibition in Paris
17th June 2008
From June 19 until September 21, the Musée de la Mode et du Textile in Paris is giving fashion fans the chance to see an exhibition of Italian design icon Valentino Garavoni.
Among the famous names to have worn his creations are Audrey Hepburn, Rita Hayworth, Elizabeth Taylor and Jackie Kennedy.
Entitled 'Valentino - Thémes et Variations', the exhibition charts the fashion designers career from its early stages in the late 1950s through to his lifetime achievement award in 2006.
Some 200 examples of his most inspired creations are on display.
"Elegant, sophisticated, modern and classic, this representative compilation of a life's work is a feast for the eyes for any fashion enthusiast," says GogoParis.com.
Born in the Lombary region of northern Italy in 1932, Valentino's fashion house is now among the most eminent in the world.
Jackie Kennedy, the wife of the last President John F Kennedy, became a frequent client of Valentino's after seeing a show of his work at the Waldforf-Astoria in 1964. He also designed the wedding dress she wore for her marriage to shipping magnate Aristotle Onassis.
A feast of fashion in Paris.
