The many faces of Paris
8th March 2006
Paris is a truly international city.
One of the most cosmopolitan parts of France, travellers to the city will find everything from the haute couture to the grungy in this vibrant, fast-paced city.
Paris is synonymous with style and renowned for chic. The city certainly lives up to such expectations, with fashionable restaurants and beautiful patisseries lining the streets near the big attractions such as the Arc de Triomphe, the Louvre museum and, of course, the Eiffel Tower.
The city centre is also a shopper's heaven, although here the price labels tend to be somewhat more expensive than anywhere else in France. However, the outskirts of Paris offer many different opportunities for visitors and include a number of less expensive shopping centres that can cater for all your needs.
There are many different sides to Paris, from the most well-known, chic and expensive, through the more bohemian to the distinctive boroughs which have amassed over the years as the city has grown outward from the Seine.
Taking a boat trip down this most famous of rivers offers the chance to see the many facets of Paris, from the famous Eiffel Tower to the more distant regions of the city. The Seine really is the life-blood of Paris and the busy nature of the river reflects the vibrancy of this amazingly different city.
