Five Continents Jazz Festival on Marseille

11th June 2007

Musicians from all over the world arrive every year for the Five Continents Jazz Festival in Marseille, entertaining eager ears at the Palais Longchamp.

This outdoor festival takes place in the luxurious gardens of the Palais Longchamp, bringing a celebration of jazz to this music-loving city. In the past, guests as acclaimed as Madeleine Peyroux and The Brad Mehldau Trio have performed on this beautiful setting.

This festival holds a special resonance in Marseilles as the city has such a strong bond with jazz music. The port became a hive of jazz activity from as early in the 1920s, with legends such as Dizzy Gillespie and Charlie Parker arriving to play at the Hot Club de Marseilles.

So, share in the celebration of jazz from around the world with a short break in Marseille.
