Lubeck is one of the most historic cities in Germany. Founded as the first German settlement on the shores of the Baltic Sea, the city has grown over the years into a beautiful place for travellers to visit.
Given its location, the city soon became an important port and its harbour remains a major attraction today. It is one of the most picturesque harbours in Europe, with a 100-year-old swing bridge still in use today.
A trip to the Museum Harbour is well worth a visit to discover more about the history of Lubeck and includes the city's symbol – a 15th century fortified gate.
