Christmas market in Lille

The spirit of Christmas will be alive for a month at the Lille Christmas market, where people can shop and enjoy festive activities.

Set to run from November 19th to December 30th, the event will offer shoppers an ideal chance to pick up presents and get in the festive spirit.

Those with children will also be able to take part in games and activities, with a Ferris wheel also being on offer.

Younger children, or the big kids among us, can have their photo taken with Father Christmas, in addition to telling him what their ideal present would be.

The festive figure also takes part in an event on the last Saturday before Christmas, where he "falls" from the 80-metre high belfry on the Chamber of Commerce.

Visitors more interested in shopping can pick up a range of products, including local crafts and traditional gifts, in addition to fashion, antique and luxury goods.

The market will be held in the Place Rihour, where over 50 stall will be situated.

French food will also be on offer if people get peckish while shopping.

While in the city, travellers can sample the other shops on offer and take a trip to the Furet du Nord, one of the largest bookshops in Europe.

The perfect opportunity for a break to Lille.
