Krakow - a city with character

12th November 2007

As the former capital city of Poland, Krakow has an array of historical and cultural delights to offer visiting tourists.

Mixing the old and new, in terms of architecture and vibe, the city has a unique character - helped in part by its roots in art, its geographical location in central Europe and the fact that there are a number of universities scattered across the place.

Visitors to Krakow may find the Main Square to be the natural starting point for a tour of the city. Events are held here on a regular basis, while it is also an ideal meeting spot for the plethora of walkers who come to check out the main sites.

Some of the aforementioned tourist attractions include St Mary's Tower, where bugle players sound their instruments every hour, and the Royal castle on the Wawel Hill, which can be reached after trailing one of the Krakow's most ancient streets.

AGH University of Science and Technology, Jagiellonian University and the Academy of Music are just three of the universities residing in the city. With so many learning institutions, Krakow can lay claim to being a haven of creativity.

Have a cracking time in Krakow.
