Klosters: Skiing fit for a prince

11th October 2007

The Swiss resort of Klosters is perhaps as famous for its visitors as it is for its astounding snow-capped peaks. A preferred winter destination of Prince Charles, the village is well-deserving of the royal stamp of approval.

Situated in the Graubünden region near Davos and to the south-east of Zürich, Klosters is a peaceful retreat, with visitors able to reach the ski slopes of Parsenn via a lift pass.

One of the most popular alpine ski resorts, Klosters and its immediate neighbours offer almost 200 miles of downhill piste. Famous for its powder snow, the village is a haven for winter sports enthusiasts.

For a less exertive way to explore the alpine majesty of Klosters, visitors can head out on one of the many hiking trails that run through the area. Those who want to travel in luxury can also sit back and relax and in a horse-drawn sleigh.

From a nightlife point of view, Klosters opts for tranquillity and a rustic feel where nearby Davos provides the busier bars and restaurants. However, those looking for some après-piste entertainment will find no shortage of bistros and cocktail bars.

If the desire to head a bit further afield takes hold, visitors might like to try a trip on the Glacier Express. Affording spectacular views of the Alps, the rail service runs between St Moritz and Zermatt or Piz Bernina and the Matterhorn.

Take a short break in Klosters.
