Juan-les-Pins - a jazz paradise
2nd November 2007
Juan-les-Pins, which is situated in the Alpes-Maritimes in south-eastern France, provides visitors with a plethora of things to do.
Perhaps the theme that captures the town the most, however, is the musical genre of jazz, which fills the streets of Juan-les-Pins.
With strong links to New Orleans in Louisiana, the French coastal town puts on an annual jazz festival in July that attracts people from all over the world.
Local bands showcase their musical talents during the height of summer, while many of New Orleans' finest also head to the Côte d'Azur to spread their sweet jazz sounds.
The town really goes all out for jazz. One of its main attractions is the Jazz à Juan, an area where ceramic tiles are laid with the handprints of famous musicians to have played at the festival.
BB King, Fats Waller, George Benson and Hank Jones are among the well-known names to have made their mark, literally, in the town.
As well as the music, visitors to Juan-les-Pins can take a number of scenic walks around the old town, many of which offer great views out to sea.
Head to Juan-les-Pins for jazz and a whole lot more.
