Düsseldorf's Rhine Tower
17th August 2006
Düsseldorf's Rhine Tower is open all year round and provides a great outing for a day in the classic German city.
Visitors can see an impressive vista of the city from a 230-metre height at the top of the tower through the tall sloping windows which arch outwards. On a clear day the outlook from Düsseldorf's Rhine Tower stretches as far as Cologne, and there is a great bar and restaurant offering refreshments with a panoramic view.
The tower is situated on the banks of the River Rhine near the parliament building and the equally impressive Gehry towers located in the media district. Visitors can walk to the tower in around 15 minutes from the city centre and the Alstadt areas.
At night, the tower utilises vertical windows on the ground floor to transform itself into a large digital clock which can be seen for miles.
The attraction is open daily between 10:00 and 11:30 and Düsseldorf railway station is located just 1.5 miles away. Booking is advised for an evening meal at the restaurant as it can get filled up with reservations.
