Les Epicuriales in Bordeaux
16th May 2007
If you are spending some time in Bordeaux between June 1st and July 30th, set an evening or two aside to visit Les Epicuriales - a true festival for the senses.
This festival provides something for the ears, the eyes but most of all the palate. Around 30 restaurants set up stalls around the city's tree-lined Allées de Tourny, offering cuisines from around the world to the gathering.
Unsurprisingly for Bordeaux, the epicentre of the party revolves around wine. The Espace Epicuriales takes root at the heart of the Allées, offering wines from not only this most celebrated of regions but also from around the world.
As well as the food and drink, music plays a big part at Les Epicuriales. Countless free concerts take place, pumping out everything from reggae to rock into this leafy space.
Further entertainment is provided by street performers, while a craft market allows attendees to pick up something by which to remember their time here.
Les Epicuriales has been keeping visitors entertained since 1995. These days, Bordeaux can expect to welcome 300,000 people into its arms over the course of the festival.
The vineyard-tapestry of the Bordeaux region and centuries of tradition has earned the city the unofficial title of the wine capital of France. Head to Les Epicuriales to taste its flavours.
