Biarritz is a luxurious beach resort on the west coast of France with a very relaxed atmosphere and also plenty of attractions for those wanting an active city break.
The ocean town has numerous beautiful beaches where visitors can soak up the sunshine or watch the many surfers who come from across the world to test out the waves.
Golf enthusiasts or those wishing to try the sport for the first time are spoiled by the many renowned courses in the town, including the fantastic Golf de Biarritz le Phare which is more than a hundred years old.
One of the highlights of Biarritz is the Sea Museum, which holds over 150 species of fish, a shark grotto and feeding the seals sessions to offer a taste of underwater life.
Asiatica is one of the top five European oriental art museums and houses over 1,000 pieces of art from countries such as Nepal, India and China, dating back to prehistoric times.
For unbeatable views over the Bay of Biarritz, it is worth a climb up the 248 steps of the lighthouse.
Biarritz offers plenty of attractions for all ages and tastes and makes a perfect choice for a weekend break.
