Marzahn Park in Berlin

Found within the Marzahn residential district of Berlin, Marzahn Park is a relaxing spot far removed from busy day to day life in the Germany capital.
The park opened in 1987 as part of the Berlin's 750 anniversary celebrations, and has continued to attract visitors thanks to its wide range of gardens and relaxation areas.
The Marzahn's long term aim is to host gardens from as many cultures as possible, with Balinese, Japanese, Chinese and Islamic gardens already present.
The Japanese garden is characterised by its many water features and traditional Japanese pavilion. In contrast, the Balinese garden contains a tropical rainforest and more colourful plant life such as the frangipani tree.
The Chinese garden is known as the Garden of the Reclaimed Moon, and opened in 2000 after six years of joint development by Berlin and Beijing planners. The garden is the biggest of its kind outside of China, and features a minute Chinese wall, a large teahouse and a 4,500 square metre lake.
Recent areas to have opened include the Islamic and Korean gardens. More familiar gardens such as the Rhododendron Grove can also be found within the Marzahn.
The park also has room for sports fields, playgrounds and an assortment of life-size characters from fairytales by the Brothers Grimm. With its unique Gardens of the World display continuing to delight, Marzahn Park should not be missed by visitors on a relaxing break in Berlin.
