Vibrant and historic Angers

Angers is a lively and interesting city with a fascinating history and many excellent attractions.
Situated near the Loire Valley, the city has numerous monuments and historical buildings and is famous for its historical tapestries.
A visit to the imposing Château d'Angers is a must for any visitor, which dates back to the ninth century. This fantastic building houses the famous Apocalypse Tapestries and also includes a prison, chapel, windmill tower and royal apartments.
The Musée Jean Lurçat is another highlight, which contains the famous tapestry Le Chant Du Monde among other fabulous works.
Dating back to the 12th century, the Cathedral St-Maurice is a wonderful building, with beautiful stained-glass windows and a daily market held outside in the square.
For those wanting a relaxing break from sightseeing, the Jardin des Plantes is the perfect location. It has an excellent tree collection and is very colourful during the summer months.
Wine lovers are advised to sample some of the finest wines from the region at the Maison du Vin de L'Anjou, conveniently located close to the Château d'Angers.
Angers is a great city to enjoy a short break, with a vibrant atmosphere and plenty of things to do.
