Culture comes to Amsterdam

The Holland Festival is the biggest cultural event in the country and brings a vast array of performers to the fabulous city of Amsterdam.

Taking place for over three weeks between June 2nd and 25th, dance, literature, visual arts, theatre, film, opera and music will be on offer, ensuring there is something to suit all tastes.

Around 80 performances will be taking place in total, from Iranian theatre to Baroque opera and electronica concerts, at a wide variety of different venues.

Renowned and amateur artists will demonstrate their talent, with both classical and experimental performances on show, intended to form a link between the unknown and familiar.

In addition, introductory lectures will take place to give audiences a greater understanding of a piece's context, plus there will be plenty of discussions, workshops and thematic programmes taking place.

With many excellent museums and fantastic churches on offer in Amsterdam for those wishing to take a break from the lively festival events, the Holland Festival would make a perfect summer city break.
