Ample attractions of Amsterdam

Amsterdam is one of the most popular destination choices for a city break and with so much on offer, it is easy to understand its appeal.

The Dutch city is extremely welcoming and very beautiful, with its glorious architecture and tree-lined canals making it an excellent place to take a tour by foot or bicycle.

One of the top attractions in Amsterdam is the Rijksmuseum, which is a heaven for art lovers. Containing fabulous pieces of art, silverware and pottery, the museum's centrepiece is Rembrandt's Night Watch.

Those with an interest in art will not want to miss the Van Gogh Museum, housing hundreds of drawings, paintings and letters by the renowned artist, in addition to works by his friends and contemporaries.

Another highlight is the Anne Frank Huis, the canal house where 13-year-old Anne Frank and her family hid for more than two years during the German occupation.

For a relaxing alternative to sightseeing, visitors can enjoy the Vondelpark. The beautiful green spot has winding footpaths and several ponds, while free outdoor concerts also take place.

It is clear that there is a wealth of activities on offer in Amsterdam and this is without mentioning the lively Nieuwmarkt, the botanical gardens, the Amsterdam Historical Museum and the many excellent restaurants, cafes and shops in the city.
