Zurich, Venice, Florence and Rome

My trip to Italy by rail began with a flight. This was not just any flight however, as I was departing from London City Airport, a joyful experience and a far cry from the lost bags and extended queues associated with other airports. City airport is a short hop away from central London on the DLR, whilst getting through security to your departure date is not likely to take longer than half an hour. As I was travelling with British Airways, I even had the luxury of checking in my bag free of charge!

A Family Christmas Holiday in Rome & Sorrento

Our BA flight arrived into Rome Fiumicino airport after a slight delay, to be met by our prearranged transfer. It was well worth the extra cost in order to avoid the chaos of trying to find a taxi.

Nice to Rome by Rail

I have visited Nice before, always in the summer months when the city is full of tourists, the days are extremely hot and the beaches crammed. So this time it was a nice change of pace to experience the city in the low season.

Crete to London by Train and Ferry

After an epic but enjoyable journey by train from London to Athens I took the ferry to the island of Crete where my mother and stepfather have settled in the picturesque hamlet of Houmeriakos. Before I knew it my week was up, I boarded the high speed ferry at Heraklion to begin my long journey home by ferry and train to London.
