This 19th century “liberty style” villa has an unbeatable setting, sitting on top of a cliff face, overlooking the perennial blue sea of the Amalfi coast. The hotel itself is elegant and classy without having the opulence or stuffiness of other 5 star deluxe hotels.

From the moment you walk in through the entrance, the staff make you feel very welcome and it is clear that they take massive pride in their hotel. The rooms are large, light and airy and decorated with beautiful tiles from the local ceramic town of Vietri Sul Mare. A sea view bedroom is a must here and all the deluxe rooms have private terraces. Relaxing on your own terrace watching the sun rise, drinking a morning coffee or having a pre-dinner glass of prosecco is an unforgettable memory.

The hotel is surrounded by gardens full of lemon and olive trees and the smell of the luscious bougainvillea is all around you. Perhaps the most memorable part of the hotel is the sun deck and pool at the bottom of the cliffs, landscaped into the rocks. To get down to the pool, you have to take a lift that cuts through the rock that would seem perfectly suited to a James Bond movie.

Once at the bottom you are met by the pool attendant who will find you a suitable sun lounger next to the water’s edge, close enough to dip your toes into the sea. The water in this part of the world is warm enough to swim in pretty much all year round and swimming in it looking up to the gardens and villa at the top of the cliff is one unbeatable experience! If swimming isn’t for you then you can use their gym which is carved into the rock or have a bite to eat at the poolside restaurant where freshly caught fish is a must.
