Hotel of the Week – Grand Casselbergh Brugge

February 3rd, 2010

The Grande Casselbergh in Bruges is our newest hotel in Bruges and is designed in a similar luxurious style to the Oud Huis de Peellaert, which comes as no surprise as it is created by the same people. The Grande Casselbergh is grand (to say the least) and you really get the feeling that they’ve pulled out all of the stops for this one.

Casselbergh HotelThe glass main doors open onto the marbled entrance to the hotel and from the reception you can get a glimpse of the high ceilinged lounge, complete with lavish artwork, fantastic décor and classical music in the background. The front of the hotel gives little indication of the immense amount of space in the building, which you can really get a feel for as you walk up the main spiral staircase and through the labyrinth of corridors, ducking under the original wooden beams that have been left in, just because they look good. The wellness centre in the basement is also a great architectural feature as it has the original wooden cloisters, and features a sauna and a gym.

This hotel has been one of my favourite hotels to stay in because you can really appreciate the effort gone into making this an exceptional hotel. Each bedroom is slightly different, and the location is also spot on, just a few minutes walk to the Grote Markt.

For arrivals before 31 March 2010 you can upgrade for free to an Executive bedroom, which includes a huge bed and more spacious bedroom.
