Press Release: Opposites Attract

Monday 3rd September 2007

Europe is a diverse continent offering something for every traveller from beaches to mountains and countryside to city. With a wide range of destinations, Railbookers takes a look into Europe’s diverse destinations.

The Netherlands is known as the Low Countries with large parts of the country below sea level. If you want to visit the lowest of the Low Countries, take a trip to Rotterdam; with the lowest point of The Netherlands, just to the east of the city. This atmospheric port offers a range of attractions from Old Masters at the Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen to nautical history at the Maritime Museum. Visit Rotterdam with Railbookers from £179 per person for 2 nights accommodation including breakfast and return train travel. For those who prefer to keep their feet dry, head up to Europe’s highest railway station at 11,333 feet on the Jungfraujoch Mountain near Interlaken. One of the oldest and most popular resorts in Switzerland, Interlaken boasts breathtaking scenery with the jewel in the crown being the Jungfraujoch. Experience the views first hand from just £279 per person for 2 nights accommodation including breakfast and return train travel with Railbookers.

Some like it hot, and with mild winters and summer temperatures rarely dropping below 30 degrees centigrade it doesn’t come much hotter than Rome. Unfortunately it is forbidden to swim in the Trevi Fountain but those looking to cool off can do so in the shade of the magnificent Pantheon. Visit Rome with Railbookers from £429 per person for 2 nights accommodation including breakfast and return train travel. Or if you prefer a scarf to sunglasses then head to the capital of the Czech Republic, Prague from £429 per person with Railbookers for 2 nights accommodation including breakfast and return train travel.  With temperatures dropping to a frosty -5 degrees centigrade in winter and only attaining a modest maximum of 23 degrees centigrade in summer, there is a reason that the Czech people specialise in hearty food such as dumplings and strudels. Keep warm with a brisk walk around Prague castle or take in the views of the River Vltava from Charles Bridge.

At opposite sides of the compass, cosmopolitan Krakow and bohemian Barcelona offer an insight into the enchanting east and the wonderful west. With so much to see and do it is no wonder that Krakow is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site. From the Royal Castle on the Wawel Hill to the atmospheric
streets of the tragic Kazimierz District you can take in the sights of Krakow from £469 per person for 2 nights accommodation including breakfast and return train travel with Railbookers. With its temperate climate and beautiful beaches it is not surprising that famous artists such as Picasso and Gaudi spent so much time in captivating Barcelona. Wander along Las Ramblas, soak up the history of the Gothic quarter or see the sharks at the Barcelona Aquarium, with short breaks from just £459 per person for 2 nights accommodation including breakfast and return train travel with Railbookers.
