This year Zurich’s Emmentaler AOC Cheese Round Rolling Championship brings a new meaning to the saying “stop playing with your food”.
Most of us prefer to eat Emmentaler but on August 24th and 25th the good people of Zurich have different ideas for this sturdy cheese. Not an event to be sniffed at, each Emmentaler (dummy) round weighs 100 kg and participants will need strength and dexterity to guide the cheese around the course. The event takes place in Zurich’s train station and offers cheese tasting, games and musical entertainment alongside the race.
