Press Release: From Le Train Bleu to the TGV
Friday 25th April 2008
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Train travel has always been the most glamorous way to travel and the French Riviera has always been the most glamorous of destinations. From 1922 – 1938 Le Train Bleu or The Blue Train carried celebrities and the wealthy to the Côte d’Azur in style. Coco Chanel, Winston Churchill and Evelyn Waugh all luxuriated in the exclusive carriages, surrounded by elegant dark blue with gold trim and indulging in 5 course dinners.
The one down side of this magnificent train journey was the time it took to actually reach the destination, twenty hours to be precise. Nowadays of course the new glamorous way to travel is on the ever so speedy TGV which will take you from the boutiques of Paris to the beaches of Cannes in a mere 5 ¼ hours.
If you are still yearning for the belle époque of the Le Train Bleu why not visit Le Train Bleu, restaurant that is, conveniently situated in the Gare de Lyon, so you can enjoy the sumptuous surroundings of the roaring 20’s and then enjoy all the technological advancements of the modern age on the Train à Grande Vitesse.
Visit Cannes with Railbookers and stay at the 4* Le Grand Hotel Cannes from £519 per person for 4 nights with the 4th night free including breakfast and return train travel.
