Press Release: Curiouser and Curiouser

Friday 19th October 2007

There are nearly one hundred museums in Paris, the most famous being the Louvre with its world famous art collection, watched over by an enigmatic Mona Lisa. However if you prefer not to follow the crowd why not spend some time with more unusual subjects?

Follow the scent to The Perfume Museum on the Rue Scribe where you can enjoy a vast collection of perfumery paraphernalia through the ages, learn how it is made and admire the heavenly surroundings of the 19th Century Napoleon III townhouse in which they are displayed.

If you think the faro shuffle means an unusual dance move by a line of Egyptian rulers, get along to the Magic Museum to see all the tricks of the trade, such as traditional toys and the room of optical illusions. There is also a magic show to show off the talents of the resident conjurers.

Expand your mind still further with a trip to the Wine Museum of Paris, located in stone quarries in the sixteenth arrondissement, where you can learn the history of wine and winemaking and see a collection of instruments and objects surrounding viticulture in ancient times. There is also opportunity to taste the wine as well. Please note wine tasting classes take place once a month.
