Insider Guide: London St Pancras

From 14th November 2007, Eurostar trains will be running from London St Pancras International and average journey times will be cut by between 23-25 minutes.
With work on St Pancras Station nearing completion and the new UK High Speed Line finished, Eurostar invited Railbookers to join the record breaking inaugural journeys from Paris and Brussels to London, and see the new St Pancras station.
The morning of Tuesday 4th September saw the inaugural Eurostar journey on High Speed 1, the UK's first high-speed line, from Paris to London St Pancras International.
Journalists and VIPs were onboard as Eurostar broke the Paris to London speed record, completing the 306 mile journey in 2 hours 3 minutes 39 seconds, travelling at speeds of 202mph in France and 195mph in Britain. Christian Sutton from Railbookers was on the inaugural journey and said it was "a fast but smooth ride, from Parisian chic to Victorian splendour". When Eurostar officially moves their services from London Waterloo to St Pancras International on 14th November, journey times from London to Paris will be a slightly more sedate 2 hours 15 minutes.
With a host of amenities and services, such as Europe's longest champagne bar and a daily farmers' market. London St Pancras International station looks set to be a destination in its own right, ensuring your holiday starts and ends in style.
And another first, Thursday 20th September saw Eurostar take its first trip from Brussels to St Pancras, this time breaking the Brussels to London speed record, completing the journey in 1 hour 43 minutes and 53 seconds. Alex Nott from Railbookers was onboard and said "it was an exciting and historic journey on the new UK High Speed Line. Plus convenient underground and train connections within London and the rest of the UK."
